On the 28th and the 29th of December, I volunteered for the Sharity Gift Box event organised annually by the Boys’ Brigade. On the 28th, I was assigned to wear my uniform and got to a few homes to distribute food stuff, together with a volunteer Taxi Driver. My duty was to distribute the food to people in one of the Beach Road Blocks. As I approached the first home, on the 8th floor, an awful stench emanated from the unit. I knocked on the door and it was until 10minutes later, a frail old lady with a hunched backopened the door. The stench of faeces overwhelmed me. As I peered into the one room flat, I saw a lot of faeces in one corner. The ‘house’ was no bigger than a class-room and it was a <<3-in-one>>kind of thing. One that that caught my attention was the old lady. Although she lived in such conditions, she was not sad or anything. She welcomed me with a big smile and as I passed her the foodstuff, her smile grew more radiant. Though she did not know how to speak English, her eyes glistened with a million thank yous. From her, I learnt that her home is in such a condition due to not being able top pay for a plumber to fix her broken toilet, hence the pile of faeces. She does not have any children that can support and relies on community help which comes once a month to help clean her home.

That experience drilled one thing into me: be contented with what you have. Being poor does not mean not being able to buy a digital cam, XBOX, PS2, or handphone. The real definition of being poor is when one cannot even afford to pay for a plumber, have 3 proper meals and proper clothing….

Next year, I promise to be a volunteer again…

It is Christmas today and i guess theres nothin much to cheer about. Woke up early in the Morning and found my father gone. Well, he went to work to earn 'money'. What the hell is this? Its christmas and you still have to work. dont even want to stay at home, or take the family out! Mum, give me a break man. Its christmas and you would not even let me out?

I am sick of this home. tired of what they want me to do, making me feel so empty, so under the surface, i dont know what the hell they expect from me, put me under the pressure of being stuck at home. Its every step that i make, i another mistake for them.... i dunno what to do...i feel like dying.

Outside, I seem happy. Inside, it’s the sad me. My life is really meaningless. I do not have plans for my future and I don’t know what I will do tomorrow.

I am in a mess, I don’t know what the hell I am talking in this blog. I just wanna die…

Merry Xmas to all…may you receive tons of presents. Bub bye.

Heayz! I am back to the bloggin world!! Well, sorry for that absence of one week. Working is no joke especially when you have to wake up at 6 and reach home at 8.30. . Rotating between the office doing faxes and to the warehouse, separating metals was tiring

Well, I learnt a lot at the workplace, like manoeuvring the forklift and lifting things, treating a badly bleeding cut with ash or tobacco and using a blowtorch. The night scene of Jurong at night is really amazing; all the refineries being lit up by white and orange lights coupled with flames burning off waste gases never failed to amaze me.

Office relations are also very important. When one becomes enemies with another, it would eventually affect the operations of the whole company. Made a few friends too. The truck cum tractor cum forklift instructor, Ash/Ken (who is 23 years old and looking for a girlfriend) and a I-know-everything-except-computers-and-MRT man, Terry, and the oh-so-2-headed-snake Mr Ho and last but no least, the Malaysian Secretary, Mandy. Though my pay was rather meagre, which was kindly raised by Zhen Yan’s father from $18 to $25 (phew!), the people there made my working hours there short and enjoyable and before I knew it, the day was over.

However, what I disliked were the swarms of mosquitoes that treated us like reservoirs. I would get at least 8 new bite marks everyday, and it’s no wonder why I would feel so lethargic at the end of everyday. (and by the end of the week, I developed a sore throat due to the exhaust gases and the chemical fumes) After eating and having my bath (by which made the water brown), I would drop dead on my bed and sleep like a baby to the break of dawn. I just received my pay yesterday and I felt a sense of achievement; my hard work had paid off. Well, now, I just have to treat my sore throat and prepare my self for next week, at Toyotron, 49 Shipyard Road.

Have a nice day people and have a great week ahead! Cheerio!

Today, my Mum and I went window shopping at Orchard. Before we started , we had our lunch. After lunch i bought a drink. (those in a plastic cup with ice and all) obviously after drinking my drink, leaving the ice, i threw the cup away, in a bin, near the FoodCourt. I then observed something very appalling. there was this old chap by the bin, foraging it. At first, I though he was one of those 'can pickers'; but i was very wrong. He took a cigarette from the compartment of the pin and smoked it! He then took a cup from in the bin with some water (probably from the melted ice) and drank it!!! My stomach cringed and whatever i had eated almost shot out of my mouth... it was totally gross! That for one, spoilt my day.

I learnt something today too...never visit Orchard Road during the December Season... being relatively TALL (thankiew) it was like i was standing in a sea of bobbing heads. I was like walking at less than 1 km per hour. needless to say, Centrepoint and John Little were no better. Ever wondered... why do Robinsons and John Little always have GREAT SALEs? To me Great sales must only occur once or twice a year. But from my memory, i believe these 2 departmental stores have sales almost 4 -6 times a year!!!

Well, never the less, my mum and i sniffed out a few great bargains. For example, Adidas is having a 30% sale on most of its items and so is Hush Puppies...Harvey Norman At centre point are selling their electronics cheap (due to some renovation sale) so all you people out there, head on to centre point for some great deals! (and nope, no one paid me to advertise ;))

After 4 hours of squeezing and pushing, we decided to head home. In the MRT station, i saw this old lady, probably in her 60s, with a full head of white curley hair cleaning the staircase and my mind shot back to the old man at the food court(who is probably a few years younger than this old lady). I wondered, he has hands and legs, why not work and eat decent stuff? Working as a cleaner or distributing pamphlets is still better than degrading himself by foraging for food in a bin! Should'nt he at least try?

As the Adidas Advertisement states <<Impossible is Nothing>>...what do you ppl think?

Havent played Tennis for 1 week due to my injury and today, I played badly... :( had to 'relearn' all the stuff once more.. The morning sun and the cool breeze was very good.

Got a job from Zhen Yan working at a Warehouse. Would be starting work on Monday for 2 weeks...WheeeEEE!!! i would not need to rot at home anymore...Finally i have something to do! Well the pay's not too good and i shall not touch on that ;)

Went to Sim Lim with Alex and wanted to buy those SCV Signal Tappers. Well, in the end we found out that those were illegal and the people there werent very willing to sell it to us... There, not only were we plagued by swarms of Pamphlet Distributors, it rained! Having only one Umbrella, {courtesy of ME} Alex and I 'lovingly shared' it. In the End, i was wet... :( and so we decided to go home.

Well, heres a very good morning to all of you readers! Beautiful morning I must say. The Sun, the cool breeze, what more can i ask for?

Last night was a scAry night. My dad, came back from work, real late. (As usual) and my mum was real mad at him; thus they began quarreling. Of course, one would’nt like to be shouted at after a day’s work, and so, CAUSE: He Threw Something. EFFECT 1 : He Broke something EFFECT 2: Made my mum even madder. Sigh, its been like this for over 2 years. Why? I do not know. He works 12 hours a day…(at least) and yet he does not bring home the bread! I remember once, I asked him to help me get something. When he passes it to me, guess what, he told me to return him the money! I mean, isn’t he my father? What’s this talk about me owing you wadeva? I have been drifting away from him both physically & spiritually. Imagine seeing your father for less than 2 hours EVERY WEEK. Painful, but well, I have been used to the Pain…..When will this pain ever stop? I do not know. I Do not have a happy family. That’s that and I am resigned to it.

But, I have vowed to myself that, when I start a family, nothing of that sort of Shit would be replayed, repeated. Nothing.
